This year I was honored to be asked to style a video for the Kim Dawson Model Search. I chose to collaborate with my friend and current go-to photographer Rambo and of course my favorite styling assistant, Carol Aldridge. At the time that Fred at Kim Dawson approached me about working on the video I was in the process of rereading "We Have Always Lived In The Castle" by Shirley Jackson, one of my favorite books of all time. I was also very stressed because I was leaving for Paris on a buying trip shortly there after and I was nervous that I would not be able to complete the video in time to meet the deadline requirement. One evening, I stayed up late reading "We Have Always Lived In The Castle" and fell asleep with it still in my hands, dreaming of it all night. When I awoke the next morning, I knew what I wanted to do. I texted Rambo and Carol right away, Merricat would be our muse. Rambo and I had recently shot at a location called The Black House, a restore 100 year old farm house in historic Weatherford owned by my friends Chad and Richard. (I hope to be able to share these images with you soon) I was immediately enchanted with the beauty of The Black House and inspired to shoot there again as soon as possible. So I knew we already had the perfect location. While I was in Paris, Rambo and Carol informed me we had been assigned to work with America. Later, Fred would cast Ashley as our Constance and introduce us to the very talented hair and makeup artist Lana Adams. Both girls were the picture of grace and professionalism. The video is still being edited and will debut next month but I'm proud to share these stills (shot by Rambo and styled by me and Carol, with HMU by Lana) now. Don't forget to vote for America! She was wonderful to work with - we asked a lot of her and she was consistently patient, polite and hard working. I'm sure she will be very successful in the industry.
